IEMs, DACs & Audio Gear in the Philippines

I just love the look of this cable. I already have quite a few replacement/upgrade cables in my collection, ever since I got hooked on IEMs... the cool braided aesthetic is probably best represented in these earthy, organic looking color sets. Hues and tones that look more like rare ore, minerals and more natural materials rather than a fancy-looking modern, nylon. Pairs really nicely with any of my themed gear - Aria II or the Zero:Red - ewan, basta, landi ko na lang sa katawan yun, haha!

The struggle back in the old days, when I was truly immersed in the music that I love -- and the actual real reason why I chose music production as a career is because of these simple headphones -- that would break on me constantly - yes, you can be very careful with your things - maging maingat sa gamit - but the operative word here is "gamit" and every time "gamitin", as a young man with an active lifestyle -- things get wear and tear.

My dream headphones back then was something that I could replace the cable, customize the foam pads, etc - all while having great sound quality.

Moondrop Old Fashioned is exactly this ideal, this fantasy of mine from the 80s - made real.

I would buy these again and again. Not like you need to -- since the cables are replaceable and the build is excellent! Better than anything that I ever owned back in the day.

I got this item for free, but it is very useful. It holds the IEMs really well. Keeps your IEM from getting squished by your other things since you don't notice them sitting on the table.

It was great, better than what I was expecting.

as someone coming from the tangzu wan'er studio edition, which aims to have a harman-like target response, this is basically that without the harsh treble. very punchy bass (and u can even add more with the bass+ impedance adapter, mas sensitive siya compared to the RED)

only con lang is if ure uncomfy with foam eartips, which are what the BLUE2s are tuned with in mind. i'd still suggest getting the red, pure, or the og blue or something else if you'd prefer using silicone eartips.

Pretty Good. Build Quality's absolutely fantastic, feels pretty premium and the drivers are pleasantly hefty and sturdy-feeling. As for sound, pretty clear, good bass while having fairly clear vocals. As for other items, the pouch was certainly nice to have while the cable is easy to work with and just right in terms of length. As for the eartips, they're servicable, though you could certainly find better ones.

A solid IEM for its price and 2nd time buying from the shop, to more budol it is 😅. Might not be for everyone's taste due to its nozzle size but still its a banger IEM for a beginner like me. Kudos to the seller, very accommodating. The shop just gained another sure buyer, will definitely buy again!

Sound Quality:
The Moondrop Golden Ages deliver a clear, tight, and highly precise sound, thanks to their planar magnetic drivers. The treble is especially crisp, maintaining clarity without any harshness or sibilance. Vocals and instruments are distinctly separated, resulting in a soundstage that feels expansive and free of congestion. While the bass may be less pronounced compared to dynamic drivers, it is still impactful—tight and responsive, thanks to the 13mm planar driver. For those seeking a more bass-heavy sound signature, I recommend using the Target 5128 EQ available in the Moondrop Link app.

Build Quality:
The Golden Ages are crafted from a lightweight yet durable plastic. Some may find the build a bit too light, which could give it a less premium feel, but personally, I find the lighter design to be more comfortable for extended listening sessions. The painted finish on both the buds and case may be prone to chipping over time, though I have not encountered this issue with other users.

Features:
In the box, you'll find a silicone protective case, a USB-C charging cable, three sets of silicone eartips, user manuals, and a poster featuring the box cover art. The Golden Ages come equipped with active noise cancellation (ANC), Transparency Mode, LDAC, and LC3 support. The ANC performance is solid—while not class-leading in this price range, it does a decent job of reducing ambient noise. Transparency Mode, however, is somewhat underwhelming; it amplifies environmental sounds, but there’s noticeable hiss in the background, and it doesn’t deliver the clearest reproduction of your surroundings. Unfortunately, I cannot provide feedback on LDAC and LC3, as my phone does not support these codecs.

Microphone Performance:
As with most Moondrop TWS products, the microphone quality leaves something to be desired. During calls, your voice tends to be muffled and frequently cut off. This is an area where Moondrop still has room for improvement.

Software Experience:
The Golden Ages are compatible with Moondrop’s software, Moondrop Link, which allows you to adjust EQ settings, customize tap controls, and—most importantly—update the firmware on the earbuds. The app is available for both iOS and Android, and I recommend downloading version 2.0, as it is the most stable and feature-complete version available.

However, a frustrating flaw of the app is that each time the Golden Ages reconnect to your phone, the app resets your EQ settings. This means you’ll need to manually adjust the EQ every time you reconnect the earbuds. Despite this, the app remains functional and works as advertised.

Verdict:
The Moondrop Golden Ages are an excellent pair of true wireless earbuds at their price point, especially for audiophiles seeking planar magnetic drivers in a TWS format. Despite some shortcomings—particularly with the microphone and Transparency Mode—these earbuds deliver impressive sound quality, a lightweight design, and a solid feature set. If you’re looking for an audiophile-grade experience in a wireless earbud, the Golden Ages are certainly worth considering, provided you don’t mind the minor flaws.

First time owning an IEM. Sobrang ganda ng sound quality compared to the other earphones I’ve owned. Everything is working, build quality is premium. Delivered agad. Also, thank you to the seller who accommodated my questions. Will purchase again next time!

I don't know any audiophile terms, all I can say is I love how it sounds!
